About Us

Exam-centric Personalised coaching.

At Abbi’s French School, we help learners of all ages master French through personalised online coaching, expert feedback, and goal-focused learning designed for real progress.

Meet the founder, Abbi

I’ve been passionate about teaching French from a young age. At 19, I began my teaching career at Alliance Française. What led to this opportunity? I had won Allons en France 2012, a national essay competition organised by the French Embassy, which awarded me an unforgettable trip to Paris. Upon my return, I was offered a teaching position - a milestone that marked the beginning of my journey as a French educator.

While it was immensely rewarding to teach at the same Alliance Française where I had once been a student, I also wanted to pursue French academically. I went on to earn my DALF C2 certification and complete a Master's degree in French. These milestones opened the door to a rewarding career filled with continuous learning and enriching experiences, including representing a former employer at the Paris Book Fair, where I had the privilege of interacting with French authors, publishers, and business professionals.

Since then, my passion for teaching and coaching has only continued to grow.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of teaching students from diverse backgrounds and at every stage of their French learning journey. Each learner brings unique strengths, challenges, and aspirations, but one thing remains constant: every student has a goal. Whether it's passing an exam, speaking French with confidence, or excelling in school, that goal is deeply important to them—and therefore, equally important to me.

My teaching approach has always been results-oriented. Every lesson is thoughtfully designed to help students make consistent progress, bringing them one step closer to their goals.

Teaching philosophy

Exam-focused learning

Competitive exams require a strategic approach, effective time management, clear and convincing communication, and accuracy with minimal language errors. At Abbi’s French School, my coaching is built around these exam requirements, helping students develop the skills and confidence needed to perform at their best.

Sample answers

The idea is not to memorise answers, but to assimilate sentence structures and develop a strong command of advanced vocabulary. Students are also encouraged to express their own ideas and opinions, helping them build confidence and communicate more naturally. I will teach you effective argumentation and persuasion strategies. A good argument does not mean being pushy or simply trying to prove others wrong. An intelligent argument is nuanced—it considers different perspectives, acknowledges complexity, and presents ideas in a thoughtful and convincing manner.

Instant personalized feedback

I will not overlook your mistakes when you speak, even the small ones that you may tend to ignore. When these mistakes become habits, they can be noticed by examiners and affect your band score, regardless of how strong or logical your arguments may be. I will make the effort to provide instant, personalised feedback based on your responses, helping you identify and correct errors while continuously improving your French.

Students’ commitment

With each class, students should aim to gradually reduce their grammatical mistakes and actively work towards improving from one lesson to the next. Your genuine commitment to applying my feedback consistently will transform your preparation into success. Being open to feedback is essential; resisting it will only slow down your progress.
